we're on lockdown

Because I'm getting paranoid about the fanlib.com thing: From here on out, all writing entries will be friends only, and I've already locked all previous writing posts (except for a few silly old SVU fics).

If you're not on my friends list and want access to future writings, leave a comment and, if you seem relatively trustworthy, I'll add you. (Bonus points if you are already a friend of someone on the list.)

Ok .. so I'm a little slow today. I read the main posts, and I agree, their TOS is scary. But why lock up your fics? Do you think it may be appropriated by someone else and get posted there under false pretenses?

Not that I write anywhere close to your level, but one of the objectives of the fic writing exercise is to get more people to read it, and f-locking it here would be counter-productive.

Basically, yeah. Most of what I post here is work-in-progress stuff and hence I'm more protective of it than my finished stories. I can easily see someone taking an unfinished concept or piece and running with it.

I see your point; one of the things I've enjoyed about lj is a feeling of community and exchange(s) with other writers. I don't view taking this step as being counterproductive, though. More than anything, I see it as being cautious, being careful with something that is very important to me.

Ok. You have reason enough to worry, and lots of people know about your work enough to make an effort to search for it if they want to read, so it'll work for you :-) I don't think I need to worry about all that yet.
