Rest in peace, Scooter. (Jesus Christ on a club sandwich, first Lee Hazlewood, now this.)

What is up with the universe?
Merv Griffin died, too... and so did Brooke Astor.
She was 105. I think MG was around 89.

Hmmm.

And Bergman, of course, and Antonioni....The universe is cashing in a lot of chips this month. Cool it, universe, mmkay?

Antonioni too?

[identity profile] badtyler.livejournal.com 2007-08-15 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
OK... if one more director bites the dust, I am claiming conspiracy.
Paging the Belz!
Although Antonioni was no spring chicken, either.

How much do you want to bet Woody is still in the fetal position on his analyst's couch?

"Mr. Allen? You need to get up now... the cleaning lady would like to get in here."

"Mamma Mia!"

Heh.

Antonioni died the same day as Bergman did! I think he was 94. (Is Kurosawa still alive? If he is, he must be REALLY nervous. But then, he's Kurosawa.)

I think Woody is in Spain with Scarlett Johanssen, filming their latest brilliant collaboration...yes, that was my sarcasm hitting you in head, sorry. :)

Re: Antonioni too? The same day? Cue scary ominous music...

As long as it is NOT Phillip Glass.

Nope, according to IMDb, Kurasawa went to the great Sushi Bar in the Sky in 1998.

Not to worry, the minute I saw the name 'ScarJo' I ducked just in time.

:)

Oh, that's so sad! Dusting off my old icon, that I retired due to the traitor's Damon's departure. It's been a tough week!

[identity profile] theholyinnocent.livejournal.com 2007-08-15 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry you're having a tough week, ultra!

You should be glad we took Damon off your hands...his famous sexy legs are shot to hell and he's an aging, broken-down lefty hitter battling for DH duties with another aging, broken-down lefty hitter (Giambi). Consider it revenge!

aw, scooter. the voice of my childhood yankees teams. I was sorry to hear this.

I've always had a big soft spot for Scooter...we share the same birthday (uh, well, not the same year, mind you). I still remember hearing him during that '76 playoff game--the Chambliss homer, when we won the pennant.

..and all of your recent posts have been about famous people kicking the bucket. You're starting to depress me, darlin', but at least the writing's good.

I know, I know...here's something to cheer you up:

Lee Hazlewood & Nancy Sinatra: Love is Strange (http://www.sendspace.com/file/q5j8ql)

If that silly, go-go version of that song doesn't make you happy, I don't know what would!

It is the way of all flesh, my child. As Sister Mary Patrick, one of my grade school teachers, told us, "Every second that passes brings you closer to your Eternity."

This works much better if you can hear it with the thick Irish brogue she spoke with.

Cheers!

Flashing a little leg always helps too. And maybe some vodka. Oh, and a complete sense of denial as well.

Works for me. But let's make mine a Tanqueray Martini with two olives.

Cheers again!
