I, too, vividly contrast the noise and bustle of a weekend in NYC with you and my stay in the provincial burgh. I am a $20-martini junkie going through the pain of withdrawal. I am depressed, cannot sleep, am profoundly thirsty and cannot hail a cab at will, and feel a sense of "impending death." Well, "doom"-- at least-- I dont think anyone has to die over it, for chrissake!
so, you decided to go ahead and get it.
I don't have the emotional availability to deal with Fermor right now. While you can fomplete it in a reasonable amount of time, I have to look up- EVERY OTHER WORD! and, this one is a little shorter than his others. The man is ruthless. Btw, I was visiting with my cousin from Athens and brother last weekend and they both said that "Roumali" is actually all of the southern Peloponesis. Now, I have to go back and re-read that one for further understanding.
