the six-and-a-half-year ache

Laptop, long have I loved thee--even when you stopped recognizing my iPod and my flash drive, even when you started taking nearly 10 minutes to boot up every time, even when the tines of your awkward power cord broke off in the power strip. Digging those out wasn't fun; you know I was a liberal arts major and had to think twice about turning off the power. No matter! I wasn't electrocuted!
I know I angered you with my MacBook dalliance. Can we blame my partner for bringing that sleek whore into our home? Yes, yes we can. I was powerless to resist Mac's charm.
But laptop, when you eat a word document that I am working on and spew out a "recovered" file that is nothing more than gibberish, then, my dear friend, I fear it may be time for us to consider a parting of the ways.
In other news, why can't the Republicans just let us enjoy our post-election buzz? Now I have to worry about the NEXT election.
And in other other news, we have a review of a book about the wives of Rodin, Cezanne, and Monet. I admire that the book seems to present a fuller picture of these women...but I'm still thinking it's more fun to be the artist than the wife. Someday, will there be an entire book devoted to model-husbands?

Yes, the way I figured it, people will forget her until she surfaces again. This way, we can all remember... when she decides to run for Prez.
YIKES!

Date: 2008-11-18 12:00 am (UTC)In other news from here, I had a scandalous dream that I was Rachel Maddow's girlfriend the other night. I can't say I was complaining either! Her hair! It's beguiling! Carson would love to get her hands on that mane I dare say.

Speaking of dreams, I had one about you! You had gotten a job at a radio station in Oregon. You weren't going to be a DJ, but a behind-the-scenes techie kind of person. Yes, I thought it was funny too.

Date: 2008-11-18 02:15 am (UTC)Personally I think Macs look sleek but given the huge amount of illegal stuff I do on my computer and the huge amount of non-Mac-compatible software I need to use to the huge amount of illegal stuff, I don't think I would ever get one.
This comment has no point other than to inform you to use PROTECTION!!!! when using your Macbook. And maybe douche yourself afterwards.

Date: 2008-11-25 02:34 pm (UTC)I've only run XP on BootCamp and as far as I know that's the only Windoze OS you can run on it. But all that may have changed recently. I mean, I wouldn't touch Vista again with a 10 foot pole anyway: what a bleeding annoyance.

Date: 2008-11-25 05:01 pm (UTC)At this time there is no real reason for me to do Boot Camp...it's just good to know that I'll have some options with the OS if I go the Mac route, in case my workplace wants me to run their Adobe programs from home. I can download Word, Excel, & Powerpoint for Mac, and that is enough for now.
