Well, the well went down so very deep
Very deep went down the well
Well the well went down so very deep
Well, the well went down to hell...

No knowing very much about Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, I googled them and here is what I found...
The title track tells the myth's tale in Cave's ironical fashion, where God eventually throws a hammer at the subject and Eurydyce threatens to shove his lyre up his nether orifice. :)

and one of their instruments is bouzouki!

bouzouki!

I'm picturing a Greek bazooka. Or a bassoon?

Greek bazooka
heh heh..Is that like a Greek rocketgun?

Apparently, Nick Cave et al uses one in the song from which your qotd comes... not a very common instrument outside of Greece, I think

Ah, you can hear it distinctively on the song. To my untrained ear, I thought someone was torturing a mandolin (well, the bouzouki looks very similar to a mandolin...). At any rate all this talk of Greek music, very predictably, makes me think of Never on Sunday.

Whoa, I'm so loaded up on allergy meds that my heads a bit fuzzy.

That quote reminds me of an episode of Angel from the last season called "The Hole in the World". Now I want to hear the rest....
