I know you have all been missing me terribly and wondering where I've been. Well, at least [livejournal.com profile] ultraviolet730 has...actually she was just wondering where I was...okay, just pretend you've all been missing me terribly, all right? "oooh, holy, you rapacious bitch, where you been, girl?"

Well, I was in Italy for 2 weeks. No lie, peoples! Teh Wife and I were in Rome for a while, then headed downcoast to Sorrento, where we took a couple cool day trips to Capri and Pompei. I've got many photos to share, and will post some as soon as we get them downloaded off the camera. I'm also writing up a travelogue of sorts that I hope to post in the coming days. For those of you who don't care to wade through my prose, here's the abridged travelogue:

1. SO SICK OF PASTA.

2. While the flights were really good, I'm still terrified of flying. (And what sadist on AmericanAirlines thought it was funny to show "Fever Pitch" to a group of people flying to New York? Waah.)

3. Never travel with friends who have not fully reconciled their marital differences. Just a little tidbit of wisdom from me to you.

4. Rome. Amazing.

5. Ditto to Pompei.

6. And Capri? Filled with rich bastards but still gorgeous.

If I've missed any significant developments in anyone's life or journal, do leave a comment. I burst into mad, piteous sobbing after only one page of flist entries and can go no further. How I have missed my H-Bomb's rants and food pr0n, [livejournal.com profile] slammerkinbabe's gazillion polls, Aqua Velvet getting all Xena on deck nails and chirpily reminding us all that math is good for you, gosh darnit, [livejournal.com profile] cabenson's boozy-woozy postings and incisive, Dick Cavett-like questions, [livejournal.com profile] projectjulie's pictures and meta musings, and all the rest of you fabu people too. :)

Other things:

Here's to you, Rosa Parks.

Lucy Lawless? Your career is in the crapper and you are Officially Not Hot anymore.

President Dickwad? You couldn't keep me out of the country, hahahahaha!

Italy. ::sigh:: Only 6 months until I go.

Yeah I wrote a story last weekend and I'd like you to read it, even though it's only ok. It's not A/O (shocker), it's original. Eep.

Yay for having you back!

How long are you going to be in Italy? You'll love it.

Sure, I'd be happy to read your story...how long is it?

3 weeks- May Term art history class- Renaissance Art in Italy (Abroad), but we see all kinds of stuff. We're going to Venice, Florence, and Rome. So excited!

It's like 450 words. And smut. So yeah.

Of course I missed you. Really! But I called you a trollop even before I knew you had gone to Italy. I knew I was onto something.

The trip sounds wonderful - minus the Bickersons. I've never been to Rome, only to Venice. But I really, really want to go someday. And to Capri. You lucky girl!

Suddenly my big plans to go to Seattle and San Francisco aren't quite as shiny...

the Bickersons

Ha, that should be our new name for them!

Your plans for Seattle and SF sound pretty shiny to me; I've never been to either place, and I've been dying to see SF for a long time now.

I've been to Venice too. As much as I enjoyed and was awed by Rome, Venice still has a special place in my heart.

It's shaped like a boot, you know, for kicking!

Wooo, there's going to be a picture book? Nice!

You know how sports fans are superstitious? My friend once refused to get off the toilet for a Stanley Cup hockey game because his team scored as soon as he sat down. You can call that crazy, but I have a point. You leave the country and W's ladyfriend lawyer gets kicked to the curb, his VP's top guy is indicted and his own top guy is justthisclose to big trouble, too. You come back and we get Alito.

I'm just saying I might be sending you back to the toletta, sweets. XD

Glad you're back, just the same.
From: [identity profile] theholyinnocent.livejournal.com

::packing bags:: See you in 2008...or maybe...I just shouldn't come back?
From: [identity profile] aqua-blurr.livejournal.com
I love your willingness to take one for the team. OK, maybe becoming an ex-pat in Italy isn't a great hardship, but still. I recall questionable toilet paper and grabby-hands in public places (hm, again not always a hardship that last bit). Just keep your passport updated and ready, baby.

It is if you suck at Italian...:)

I recall questionable toilet paper and grabby-hands

The toilet paper situation was actually better than the last time we went (couple years ago, to Venice). Maybe the toilet paper gets better the further south you go in the country?

Italy? And here I thought the Man had finally snuffed out your glamourous life of crime and you were rotting in the Tombs, or something. OK, not really, but you've been missed all the same. ;)

The coppers will never catch up to me, see. I can always shake 'em off, like crueller crumbs off a polyester rain slicker. Did I ever tell how I got started? It all began when my old man stepped on my diorama of Twitty City. Let's just say that next morning when Ma opened up the trash can to dump the coffee grinds, she found a diorama of dead Dad.

Ooooh La Bella Italia. I'm truly green with envy. Or maybe it's not envy, it's just so damn hot and humid here that I'm hallucinating.

Good to see you back, kiddo!!! Glad that you had a wonderful time away from the crazy US.
